At Slaughterbeck Floors, we don’t just have installers. We have flooring artists that create imaginative, unique pieces or accents. Some striking examples are the log floors we’ve created by reclaiming the wood from fallen tree trunks.

Mixed Materials – Blend Different Wood Species or Materials
We can blend domestic and exotic hardwoods for shocking effects. Custom inlays of natural stones, metals, and other mixed materials, like luxury vinyl tiles or planks, create striking contrasts of texture.
As with wood inlays, natural stones, marbles, granites, and travertines can also be used in flooring designs. The physical aspects of these materials coupled with accents of glass and nonferrous metals add phenomenal texture, richness, and uniqueness to each inlay.

Custom Flooring Borders & Accents
Inlay borders and feature strips are commonly used to create a nice complement to a space or highlight a section of a floor. Borders can be bold and intricate or simple and minimalist.
Borders can also be custom-built with mixed materials. Many manufacturers also offer prefinished options to be used, such as the Marmoleum checkerboard examples below in Bay Area kitchens.

Prefinished hardwood medallions and other inlays are not just for traditional homes or luxurious mansions anymore. With a wide variety of choices, there are many designs that fit within the decor of your home.
We source premade wood floor medallions from the top industry supplier – Oshkosh Designs. Each medallion can be customized for size and finish. Prefinished medallions use a low VOC, water-based finish.
